About Victoria McKee
Victoria is a Master’s Trained Registered Counselling Therapist who has been practicing Counselling Therapy for over 20 years. She works with individual adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, addiction, relationship difficulties, self-esteem issues, and past trauma.
Trauma isn’t just what has happened to you, it can also be what didn’t happen that should have. We all crave growing up in a safe and loving environment, feeling loved, seen, heard, and appreciated unconditionally. When this is not your experience as a child, research shows that it can have a lasting impact, which can later affect your relationships, your confidence and overall physical and emotional health in adulthood.
We all experience some degree of difficulties in life, but people become strong and resilient to these when they have been offered caring relationships in which to process them. Emotionally processing difficulties with someone attuned and caring at any time of life can lead to changes; it can help us transform old patterns of responding that no longer serve us, so we can be happier and thrive.
Victoria believes anger issues, self-sabotage, anxiety, and depression can be understood in this framework, and effectively transformed with the right support and tools. To this end, she offers a range of interventions that have been found helpful, including CBT, EMDR, and Gabor Mate’s Compassionate Inquiry (which is a body-oriented approach).
